Bachelor of Commerce (BCom - Accounting)

The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom – Accounting) is a three-year degree course and forms part of the requirements for training as a General Accountant. Upon the successful completion of the three-year degree candidates are eligible to write professional examinations of many professional formations including South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) amongst other professional bodies. Employment opportunities are available in Municipalities and Provincial Government for those who choose not to pursue the professional rout. Qualifying graduates with BCom-Accounting can also pursue further studies such as theBCom (Honours) degree.

 

Admission Requirement for current grade 12 learners:

  • Admission Points Score of 28 calculated from 6 recognized subjects excluding life orientation.
  • Minimum NSC requirements for degree entry must be met.
  • English on at least level 4.
  • NSC achievement rating of at least 4 Mathematics.

Or Mathematics at level 3 and Accounting at level 4
